Thursday Thoughts: 2% is not 0%

Hi Everybody, it’s Roberta Fernandez and it’s time for your Thursday Thought.

I was just going to post this video, but I had to watch it three times before I fully absorbed the things that this young woman said. I’m going to include the link to it below. But I want to give the quotes so that you really hear them.

This was a story of a young woman who sang on America’s Got Talent. And to shorten the story, she has cancer, and it’s severe.  And she performed a song that she wrote about her previous year in dealing with all of this. And these are two of the quotes that she said:

“It’s important that everyone know I’m so much more than the bad things that happen to me.”  That was the response that she gave when the judges found out that she had cancer.

When she was finished, Simon was very affected by her performance. And this is what she told him: “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”  And I found both of these quotes, quite honestly, very profound, but what really struck me was at the end, after her performance was over, and they were interviewing her afterward.  She said,

“I have a 2% chance of survival, but 2% is not 0%, 2% is something. I wish people knew how amazing that is.”

And I just want you to watch this video and think about it over the weekend and reflect about how amazing this young woman is, and about how true her words are, and how little we really have to complain about in this life.

I’m Roberta Fernandez, your Ability Activator. Have a great weekend, everybody!

PS – She died very soon after this performance

  1. After I initially commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me
when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is
added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Perhaps there is
a way you can remove me from that service?
    Thank you!

  2. I just like the helpful info you supply to your articles.
I’ll bookmark your weblog and take a look at again here regularly.
I am relatively sure I’ll be told a lot of new stuff proper
right here! Good luck for the next!
